Position Overview:

 

The Procurement Manager will oversee the entire purchasing process from start to finish, encompassing planning, strategic sourcing, and procurement of equipment, materials, and subcontract services. They will ensure materials are purchased in accordance with operational needs, considering factors such as price, quality, and delivery timelines. Developing procurement strategies and implementing an efficient inventory control system will be key responsibilities, leveraging expertise and data analysis tools to optimize both contractual and cost-saving opportunities across the company.

 

Vendor management and managing the flow of materials to support production requirements and customer delivery are central to the role. Collaborating closely with the production manager, the Procurement Manager will ensure the availability of adequate materials to support manufacturing and implementation requirements. Additionally, they will oversee all other purchasing activities within the company, including equipment, software licenses, and services.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on day-to-day procurement role. Supervises 1-2 team member on procurement activities for fast paced, high growth technology Company.
  • Responsible for problem solving, sourcing, relationships, and supply assurance to keep implementation timelines on schedule.
  • Manages price negotiations, savings, avoidances, strategies, and tactics and creates leverage with suppliers and supplier escalation as needed.
  • Partners on CapEx projects and service agreements, including RFI/RFP’s, side-by-side analysis, recommendations, and legal contracts.
  • Leads internal cross functional teams and supplier meetings to drive supply chain improvements, capacity and capabilities
  • Evaluates potential and existing suppliers based on the required performance specifications, quality and cost.
  • Proactively assesses the risk of supply interruption situations, puts in place remedial action and corrective measures. Manages emergency supply chain situations.
  • Develops and maximizes automation tools to increase productivity and value add.
  • Owns and maintains Purchasing policies, procedures, and changes to ensure accuracy.
  • Participates in procurement reviews and Finance budget processes.
  • Maintains Service contracts and service vendors; leads contract renewal process.
  • Owns Supplier Ratings and meets with suppliers to design plans to achieve 100%.
  • Leads early R&D involvement to design and target viable suppliers with desired scales, price curves and capabilities.
  • Manage overall 3rd Party relationships to ensure raw material supplier, product supply, increased process efficiencies and best practices.
  • Creates, monitors and maintains the tracking and reporting of key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management or related field preferred
  • 8-10 years’ experience in procurement/purchasing of electronics, mechanical devices or machined parts.
  • Previous experience with a commercial entity is preferred. 
  • Vendor sourcing, and terms & contract negotiation/administration
  • Previous budget management experience
  • Strong negotiation abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in inventory control and replenishment.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data and to work with figures.
  • Proven history of developing effective policies
  • Demonstrated competence in using software applications.
  • Strong experience in developing purchasing procedures, approaches, price negotiations and supplier relationships.
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills and independent ability to solve problems.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, set deadlines and work well with others required.
  • Ability work independently in a fast paced and rapid changing environment
