    Catapult Learning, the largest provider of K-12 contracted instructional services in the United States, is searching for a Director, Instructional Excellence. As the Director, Instructional Excellence, you will ensure instructional quality in our Intervention, Enrichment, and Specialized Services programs.


    • Define short and long terms plans for Catapult to continuously improve instructional excellence and positively impact student academic achievement
      • Develop explicit instructional excellence plans for current year and beyond (including managing the Program Support list of programs requiring additional support and attention to improve instructional quality)
      • Collect, manage, and use data to make decisions to improve instructional quality and academic achievement of our students
      • Identify and coordinate the implementation of - innovative solutions for improving instructional quality
    • Support Territory-level instructional improvement plans to ensure that Supervisors have the tools needed to rapidly improve instructional quality and academic achievement
      • Collaborate with territory leadership to develop territory plans
      • Direct IE Coaches in supporting implementation of territory plans, and supervisor coaching and support
    • Own field professional development plans to improve instructional excellence
      • Partner with Manager of Training and Operations to plan and design on-going professional development for Territory teams including Regional Directors, Area Managers, Supervisors, and Teachers
      • Support the development of Catapult’s supervisor and teacher development programs
    • Support the high quality delivery of Specialized Service programs (e.g., counselling, family connections)
    • Manage and develop the Instructional Excellence team
      • Hire highly-qualified team members and ensure their performance
      • Manage and develop Instructional Excellence Coaches
      • Provide direct coaching, mentoring, and training to instructional excellence coaches (IECs) and other staff


    We are looking for an experienced educator and leader with a diverse background and strong experience improving instructional quality and increasing academic achievement for students. You must be mission-driven and motivated by the opportunity to change children’s lives through education.     We expect our Director, Instructional Excellence to:

    • Have at least two years teaching experience in a high-needs school with a proven track record of raising student achievement; reading or math intervention experience a huge plus
    • Have at least two years  of instructional coaching experience with a proven track record of improving teacher quality
    • Know great teaching when you see it. Whether you are watching a teacher deliver a lesson or looking at student performance data, you can identify areas in which the teacher is effective and what s/he needs to do to improve immediately and in the long-term


    • Familiarity and expertise in Pre-K-12 teaching, coaching, and/or leadership, including:
      • Deep knowledge of content and instruction, especially as it pertains to high-risk student populations and reading/math intervention
      • Up to date knowledge of instructional best practices and educational research.
    • Previous experience managing people, preferably a remote workforce
    • Previous experience planning, developing, and facilitating professional development for teachers and/or school leaders
    • Ability to track and analyze quantitative and qualitative data to discover trends and act strategically and effectively to improve instructional quality and academic achievement.
    • Strong and transparent communicator who delivers feedback in a direct and compelling way that inspires immediate improvement
    • Comfort with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment. You will use your knowledge of strong instruction combined with performance data and anecdotal evidence from classroom observations to develop and implement company-wide instructional solutions
    • An unrelenting commitment to constant learning and improvement, in both your own work and the work of others. You thrive on feedback and implement it quickly to continually improve your practice
    • Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time, to work non-standard hours, and to occasionally work on weekends
