  • Overview

    This new position at Catapult Learning is charged with generating new business relationships and expanding existing business partnerships within the special education business, focused on providing in- district classroom solutions (IDCs)[1]. It is also responsible for managing our small IDC sales team (at this point including a full-time sales rep and a subject matter expert who provides sales support).


    This is a growing business for Catapult Learning, providing a unique opportunity for the right person to help define our approach to marketing and selling special education services.  The successful candidate will be excited about being a core part of the IDC team that is defining our approach to IDC sales.


    [1] An in-district classroom (IDC) is a classroom dedicated to special or alternative education within a public school that is run by a third-party (as opposed to a stand-alone school fully managed and run by a third-party)


    • Own the IDC sales cycle for own territory, from target and prospect identification through to contract close, collaborating with others in the organization as appropriate
      • Work with Sales Operations to identify attractive targets and prospects for IDC sales
      • Work with Marketing and Sales Operations to develop and implement a plan for generating leads via targeted marketing campaigns, current customer referrals, relevant conferences, etc.
      • Develop – and manage to – a sales plan that focuses on attractive targets and meets revenue and profit goals
      • Lead the development of proposals and RFP responses, in collaboration with the Marketing/Proposals team
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders such as Special Education Directors, Public School District leadership, School Boards, community leaders, and other influential constituents
    • Manage the IDC sales team
      • Put in place sales processes and ensure team execution against them
      • Manage performance of team members to deliver against agreed goals and objectives
      • Provide coaching and other support to team members as needed
    • Be a core part of the IDC initiative team, helping to define our approach to IDC sales and business development


    • Proven business development and sales skills
    • Strong knowledge and understanding of special education, and a passion for it. Preference for experience working in a special education role in a school district or school
    • At least eight years of related experience (in sales and/or special education)
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and organizational skills
    • Willingness to heavily travel
