Railroad and Transit Team
Burns provides design and construction solutions to help maintain, improve, and expand the nation’s railroad and transit infrastructure. We have designed and supported the implementation of critical programs all across the country and support the renewed emphasis on a public transit-oriented lifestyle. Burns’ Railroad and Transit team’s offers a full range of engineering design services for station, administrative, maintenance, shop, crew/personnel, substation, and special purpose facilities as well as rail bridges, catenary structures, and associated infrastructure construction. Our strong experience in facility and structures maintenance and management, including historic restoration, allows us to offer our clients customized, cost-effective solutions to help build resilient and sustainable infrastructure.
Burns is currently seeking a Signals Designer II to join our Philadelphia, PA team.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation Design software; MicroLok II, Electro-Logix and/or VPI application programming, MS Excel Spreadsheet software and MS Word Processing software.
Valid driver's license may be required upon assignment.
